The CapTel (captioned telephone) is available through ITAC's Loan Program.  The CapTel provides captioning through an operator and relay service.  If the amplified phone does not meet your needs, the CapTel phone may work for you.

The CapTel phone is effective for people who:

  • Are hard of hearing
  • Are late deafened
  • Are deaf with established speech
  • Use VCO with traditional relay

The CapTel user MUST have excellent speech skills as the operator does not hear that side of the conversation.
